As long-time members of the Carlsbad Lions Club, Tom & I are the directors of the Miss & Teen Carlsbad Scholarship Pageant, which has been a community service and fundraising project for the club since 1954.  After several frustrating years of trying to find nice pageant sashes, Tom bought me an embroidery machine so I could make them myself.  Other pageant directors and area queens admired the sashes of our titleholders, which led to my sash making venture.

	MS. SENIOR LONG BEACH 2014 At pretty much the last minute, I decided to go for one more try at state, and competed in the Ms. Senior Long Beach pageant in June, 2014.  I was shocked when I won Talent, and thrilled to be crowned Queen!!  I worked very hard on improving my talent for the state pageant, and was told by many that I gave a "great" performance.  But, alas, I still did not place at state.    But the ladies who did make Top 5 are all wonderful, talented, smart, nice ladies who deserved their wins & they have my heartfelt congratulations!
	MS. SENIOR PASADENA 2012 In May of 2012, I competed in the Ms. Senior Pasadena pageant, hoping for a chance to again compete for Ms. Sr. California.  Happily, I won!  I LOVE that giant trophy (my little grandson Elliot was really impressed with it!--Thank you, Marilyn!).  Had fun, but again did not place at the state pageant.

    MS. SENIOR SAN DIEGO 2010                                         At the urging of our 2009 Carlsbad Queens, Maddy & Chelsea (in photo at right), I finally entered my first pageant in February, 2010, and won the title Ms. Senior San Diego America 2010.  I competed against 10 lovely senior ladies in the categories of interview, philosophy of life, gown modeling, and talent.  For talent, I sang & danced Cabaret.    In August, I competed in the Ms. Senior California pageant, but did not place.   You might notice that they were giving the winners ribbon sashes, but after they met me, they ordered my beautiful embroidered satin sashes!
